Robotics with Waikato Uni -Putararu2
CBS Boston reported the amazing thrill students from Boston High school experienced when a robot joined their class activities. This was no different an experience amongst the young people at the second PTC workshop in Putaruru. The concentration and at times quizzical looks on students’ faces meant that the task set by Dr Lim and postgraduate students from Waikato University certainly was not too easy. But this brought out excellent teamwork and camaraderie among students which was refreshing to capture.
Their enthusiasm was certainly rewarded once they got to the stage where they could input batteries and see their creations come to life. As their eyes lit up, the smiles on their faces quickly turned to giggles and laughter as they watched their robots in action.
This PTC Robotics Workshop offered a hands-on approach to science and technology which certainly sparked curiosity and inspired creativity. It was stimulating and given the body language responses -it certainly achieved its objective!!
NZ youth are always encouraged to participate in our kiwibots competitions. The New Zealand VEX Robotics Competition National Championships occurs in February 2022.
