Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (2020), Energy in New Zealand reported that 84% of electricity usage is renewable in New Zealand. In 2023, ‘Energy in New Zealand 2023 shows renewable electricity generation increased to 87%’. With these gains expected to increase as awareness is heightened, Tarawera students were primed and enthused for the PTC renewable energy workshop.

Their desire to learn was evident as they tried testing their build under varying conditions (from cloudy, to full sun, to the use of batteries etc). Seeing their curiosity sparked and interest peaked as the workshop progressed was amazing.
